Course Objectives In this course, we aimed to have the students explain public health practices at community level, define health status and important health problems, apply health education, water analysis and chlorination, family planning counseling and monitoring, functionality and risk assessment in the elderly, and make suggestions for the management of risks in the elderly.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • 1. Define the physician's duties and obligations within the context of legal rights and responsibilities.
  • 2. Comprehend the importance of ethical principles, professional behaviour, and professional competence in the patient-physician relationship.
  • 3. Comprehend why physicians should be altruistic in their interactions with their patients.
  • 4. Explain which values are required to protect, develop, and maintain professional competence.
  • 5. Discuss about the moral aspects of health advocacy
  • 6. Distinguish moral conflicts between society and the patient.
  • 7. Discuss the ethical implications of technological and health-care delivery model changes.
  • 8. Define the threats and opportunities that social media presents in terms of professional and moral development
  • 9. Define the concept of leadership in terms of its various dimensions and characteristics.
  • 10. Explain various leadership theories and approaches
  • 11. Define the fundamental social and psychological elements associated with the concept of leadership.
  • 12. Prepare leadership development plans in accordance with values and professional principles by realizing that leadership is everyone's responsibility and taking on their own leadership development responsibilities

  • 14. Explain the value of a system-based approach to patient safety.
  • 15. Identify the factors that reduce teamwork effectiveness and how to deal with them.

  • 17. Explain the importance of clear, understandable, and professional communication with patients, their families, healthcare professionals, other professional groups, institutions, and organizations in order to reduce patient safety risks and improve healthcare quality.
  • 18. Explain the sources of health-care-associated infections, as well as the main transmission routes and precautions
  • 19. Explain the risks to patient safety in surgery and other interventional applications and drugs, as well as how to control them.
  • 20. Define physical, psychological, social, and spiritual issues that are common in patients with limited life expectancy.
  • 21. Explain palliative care and end-of-life care models and basic principles in a holistic and family-centered manner
  • 22. Explain the fundamental principles of symptom assessment and management in palliative care.
  • 23. Explain the fundamental principles of pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management and define the concept of total pain.
  • 24. Explain the fundamental principles of managing gastrointestinal problems that are common in palliative care.
  • 25. Explain the importance of therapeutic communication in life-threatening situations.
  • 26. Explain the fundamental principles of bad news reporting and demonstrate it appropriately in simulated environments.
  • 27. Discuss ethical and legal issues during decision-making processes in life-threatening situations and at the end of life.
  • 28. Explain the fundamental principles of patient care coordination with various disciplines and in various situations.
  • 29. Define burnout prevention strategies.
  • 30.Apply evidence-based medicine principles in literature search, critical appraisal, interpretation of study results, and discussion of the applicability of the results in different conditions.
Course Description This course aims to improve students' knowledge and skills in the areas of professionalism, leadership, patient safety, and patient management, which are all parts of our program competencies.
