Dean’s Message

As Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine, we began our journey in September 2017 with the aim to train physicians equipped with leadership skills and professional values that will enable them to produce solutions to the changing health problems of the world and our country, to evaluate the human being integratedly with respect to his psychological, social and biological environment, to show a systematic approach to identifying problems and producing solutions to them.

To accomplish these goals, we have been the first faculty in Turkey to add new concepts such as planetary health and lifestyle medicine to its curriculum, designed so as to cover both knowledge and skills that are accumulative and integrated. In this context, starting with critical thinking approach in the first year, we continue with the clinical reasoning program in written cases in the third year, and have the students to use these skills in patient management in the clinics. New concepts and practices, many of which are firsts in our country, such as patient-centered history taking, electronic portfolio and reflection, have become a part of our training. Through the “E-Med” platform, we offer opportunities provided by electronic education environments to our students. The Blacboard learning system, Panopto registration system and Oasis infrastructure provided by our university not only facilitate our communication with our students in every respect, but also enable our students to watch and learn the registered courses whenever they need.
 

Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine cares and prioritizes training physicians who are well-equipped to protect and develop individuals with lifestyle medicine, and the society with public health, and the health of our planet with planetary health.

In addition to these, we aim to train physicians equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills which will help them to keep up with the needs of the changing world and lead the change. In order to achieve this, we offer systematic education on topics such as professionalism, ethics, leadership and patient safety along with high-level knowledge in basic and clinical sciences.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE), the first foundation university of the Aegean Region, and Medical Point Izmir Hospital, the largest private health institution in the region, have joined forces with the aim of training qualified physicians and health workers that our country needs.

We set out targeting a good medical education, and are walking with determination and perseverance on our way. With the strong support of our university, our qualified teaching staff and strong infrastructure, we are happy to have you walk with us on this journey.
