Ayse Banu Demir is a Faculty Member at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Faculty of Medicine. She received her BSc. (2007) degree from Bilkent University/Turkey and MSc. (2009) and PhD. (2015) degrees from Izmir Institute of Technology/Turkey in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. During her education, she did research in Neurogenetics and Gene Therapy Departments at Karolinska Institute/Sweden and in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at University of Gothenburg/Sweden. She worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Oncology at Dokuz Eylul University/Turkey (2012-2016) and had a second MSc. (2016) degree in the field of Basic Oncology from this institute. Graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his training in anatomy at Ege University. He became an associate professor in 1991 and professor in 1998.

Dr. Melis Kartal Yandim was born in İzmir in 1986. Dr. Kartal Yandim graduated with honor from Ege University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology in 2008. She received her MSc and PhD degrees in 2010 and 2015, respectively, from Izmir Institute of Technology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. She worked as a Post-Doctoral researcher at Izmir Institute of Technology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (February, 2015- April, 2016). Dr. Kartal Yandim’s research interests focus on cancer molecular biology, multidrug resistance mechanisms, reversal of drug resistance, effects of bioactive sphingolipids on apoptosis and drug resistance, apoptosis mechanisms and combination therapies. Dr. Kartal Yandim worked as a Research Assistant at İzmir Institute of Technology, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics between 2009-2015. After graduating from Atatürk High School, Ankara, I started and graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Erciyes University. I completed my compulsory service for two years in Şanlıurfa as a General Practitioner. I specialized in Histology and Embryology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. I worked at the same Department as a staff member. I started teaching at Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. I became an Associate Prof in 2003 and then a Prof in 2010. I worked at Ege University, in the Family Planning and Infertility Research and Application Center for 6 months. I also worked on this subject at Yale University Faculty of Medicine in 2010. My research subjects are; cancer biology, angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell signaling pathway and histochemical, immune-histochemical and ultrastructural techniques. Within this time frame I have 62 manuscripts published in SCI and SCI-E and 17 national manuscripts published. There are total of 370 citations for my published works. I have graduated 7 Masters and 3 PhD students. I participated as an executive and researcher in 1 DPT, 3 TUBITAK and 48 CBU BAP projects. During 2013 to 2015, I served as the vice-dean of the Manisa Celal Bayar University Faculty of Medicine overlooking the medical education. I am a board member of Turkish Society for Electron Microscopy, and member of Turkish Histology and Embryology Association and Turkish Medical Association.

Berna Musal, MD, MHPE, graduated from Ege University Medical Faculty in 1982. She is trained as a Public Health specialist. She was promoted as Associate Professor in 1996 and Professor in 2022. She received Master of Health Profession Education Degree from Maastricht University Faculty of Health Sciences in 2000. She is an alumni of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education-International Fellowship in Medical Education (FAIMER-IFME). She worked in the Medical Education Department of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine during February-August 2003 period. She worked as the chair of Medical Education Department of Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine between 2002 and 2022. She was the director of Faculty development programs and educational committees such as curriculum committee, measurement and evaluation committee. She is one of the founding members of Association for the Advancement of Medical Education. She was the chair of the executive committee of Association for the Advancement of Medical Education between 2004-2008 and 2016-2017. She worked as a member of the National Medical Education Accreditation Board (UTEAK) and Standarts Setting and Development Commission between 2008 and 2016. She assumed the position of vice president of UTEAK between 2016-2018 and chairman of UTEAK between 2019-2021. She is currently member of UTEAK and board member of the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education Programs. She was assigned as head of teams to several universities’ evaluation process in the scope of Institutional External Evaluation Program and Institutional Accreditation Program of Turkish Higher Education Quality Council. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey in 2002. In 2016, Dr. Gökdemir received her specialisation education from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine in Izmir, Turkey, and her Ph.D. from the same university, Department of Physiology. She completed her mandatory work in Isparta between 2016 and 2018. She started working as an assistant professor at Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Medicine in 2018. Dr. Gökdemir was the past leader of the special interest group on mental health at the World Organization for Family Doctors (WONCA)-Vasco da Gama Movement (2018-2021). She is a member of the Rural Wonca (Wonca Working Party on Rural Practice) Council and EURIPA's executive committee. She is also the media director of Aile Hekimliği Akademisi (Family Medicine Academy) and a member of the Family Physicians Associations Federation (AHEF) vaccination council. She is a member of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Turkish Association of Family Physicians (TAHUD) and the European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN). Dr. Gökdemir is a member of the editorial board of the Turkish Journal of Family Medicine Primary Care, The Journal of Turkish Family Physician, and Journal of Applied Sciences and Clinical Practice (JASCP). She is a guest associate editor of Frontiers.

She was born in Adana. She completed her elementary and secondary education in Ayas College and graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical School in 1982. Between 1982 and 1985 she completed her compulsory service in Bolu (Central) Number 2 Regional Healthcare Center and work in Karabağlar Healthcare Center, in İzmir for a short time. She has completed her specialization education in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology in 1988. She became associate professor and professor in 1993 and 1999 respectively at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology. She has completed her doctoral proficiency in “Educational Sciences” and took part in DEU Medical School's active education establishment studies. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Dayanç moved to United States for his Ph.D. with a Fulbright Fellowship and studied Tumor Immunology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute at Buffalo, NY. He was funded throughout his Ph.D. studies and his thesis won the Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Dissertation Research Award in 2008. After a short post-doctoral period at RPCI, he moved to Bilkent University/Ankara as a postdoctoral research associate in 2010. He established the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics with his colleagues at Inonu University in 2012 and established a graduate program there in 2013. He started the INUGENT- Genetics Student Association in 2014. He is among the core team of faculty members who established the Faculty of Medicine at Izmir Economics University in 2016. His studies were published in several internationally indexed journals and they were cited over 350 times as of 2018.

I have completed my master's and PhD education in biochemistry with a focus on cancer biology and more spesifically metabolism of cancer cells. I have worked as a reseracher and a teaching assistant in several labs in Turkey, Germany and USA. I also have industry experience having been worked in R&D for drug, medical device and IVD assay development. My primary responsibilities in the faculty are the execution of the medical biochemistry education and management of the electronic learning platform. I am instructing theoretical and practical learning activities, and coordinating e-learning activities of the faculty. I am also a member of the Medical Education Commission of the faculty, which oversee, evaluate and augment the curriculum. Due to my research background, I am actively working in research activities of the faculty and instructing scientific/critical thinking to both undergraduate and graduate students of my university.

He graduated from Bornova Anatolian High School in 2000 and from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2006. He has a degree from Ege University Faculty of Medicine as a General Surgery Specialist since January 2013. After studying oncological surgery at Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan in 2010, he has been working as a founding faculty member of Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine since April 2016. He received the title of associate professor of general surgery in August 2021 and was appointed to associate professorship by Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine in June 2022.

Yasemin SEVAL ÇELİK, received her BSc. degree from İstanbul University, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Biological Sciences. Afterwards, she received her MSc. degree in “Reproductive Biology” and PhD. degree in “Histology and Embryology” from Akdeniz University, Health Sciences Institute. During her masters education she was granted a scholarship from the Finnish Government and has worked in the Virology Department in Haartman Institute, University of Helsinki. She has also worked as a researcher at Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. After working in Near East University, Faculty of Medicine, she became a faculty member of Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Medicine in 2016 and in the same year she became an Associate Professor

He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2002. He completed his education in Dokuz Eylul University, Department of Emergency Medicine in 2009. She worked at İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, Erzincan University Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital, Medicalpark İzmir Hospital. She received the title of associate professor in 2017.

Gül Güner-Akdogan is holder of BS and MSc in Biochemistry from Geneva University, Switzerland. After completing her PhD degree in Istanbul University in 1980, she joined the faculty in the biochemistry departments in Istanbul and then, in Izmir (Dokuz Eylül-1986) Universities. In 1996, she was awarded an ECFMG (USA) fellowship (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) and was invited as a visiting professor to the Department of Biochemistry, WVU-SOM, USA. She was re-invited to the USA medical school for a short-term “revisit” in 2001. In 2002, Gül Akdogan founded the Central Research Laboratory of Dokuz Eylul Medical School, which she directed between 2002-2016. She also worked promoting the post-graduate education in health sciences and from 2000 to 2010, she was the Director of the Graduate School of Health Sciences responsible for the coordination and management of MSc and PhD degrees. Linked to this role, she served as the coordinator of Dokuz Eylül University on the Doctoral Council of EUA. She served on the Executive Committee of ORPHEUS (Organisation for PhD education for biomedicine and health sciences in the European system) between 2010-2016 and organised the 6th ORPHEUS Conference in Izmir in April, 2011. She was the General Secretary of this organisation between 2014-2016. Since 2017, Gül Akdoğan is the Co-Chair of the Labeling Committee of ORPHEUS. Gül Güner’s research activity is focused on the extracellular matrix in health and disease and its communication with cells including fibroblasts, and lately, endothelial cells. She has over 95 publications on her research, cited in SCI, extended SCI, Index Medicus, etc. In 2001, Gül was invited to join the FEBS (Federation of European Biochemical Societies) Working Group on Teaching Biochemistry and from 2008 , was elected to be a member of the FEBS Education Committee founded by late Prof. Edward Wood (Leeds). Gül Güner (Akdogan) organised, coordinated, or served as a trainer in over sixty workshops, symposia, and meetings mostly including FEBS, IUBMB, etc. She worked on the Editorial Board of BAMBED (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education Journal) between 2007-2015 and served on the Editorial Board of “Bioscience Education”. Between 2009-2019 Gül Akdoğan servet as Chair of FEBS Education Committee (Elected in Prague in 2009, re-elected for a second term during FEBS Council in September 2012, and a third term during the FEBS Council in Berlin in July 2015). She totated out from Chairship in 2019. Prof. Gül Güner AKDOĞAN was awarded the "FEBS Diplome d'Honneur" in 2018. Gül Güner Akdogan served as the Director of Graduate School of Health Sciences of IEU between 2016-2019. Since 2016, she is a faculty member of the Basic Sciences division of IEU School of Medicine.

Dr. Gönül Dinç Horasan is currently Professor of Public Health at Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine, Izmir. Dr. Horasan obtained her medical degree from Ege University Faculty of Medicine and did her residency at Akdeniz University in Antalya. Dr Horasan has worked in Manisa Celal Bayar University (MCBU) between 1996-2017. She also worked as a fellowship in Academic Unit of Primary Health Care, University of Bristol, UK for six months in 2006. Dr. Horasan has been teaching epidemiology, biostatistics, reproductive health and noncommunicable disesases in graduate and undergraduate courses. She has worked on the editorial board of the Clinical and Experimental Health Sciences as the epidemiology and statistics consultant. Reproductive health and surveillance are among her research interests. Dr Dinç Horasan worked as a founding manager in the Women Center in MCBU between 2012-2015. She was the head of the Women Studies Department in Social Sciences Institute in the same University between 2012-2017. Dr Horasan has been the Director of Gender Studies Research Center (EKOKAM) in Izmir University of Economics since 2021. Dr. Dinç Horasan is married and is a mother of two children.
