            Course Objectives The aims of this course are; to take detailed anamnesis from the patient or relatives; make detailed neurological and psychiatric examination; make the most accurate and necessary laboratory requests for pre-diagnosis-diagnosis, emergency neurological patients (stroke, headache, dizziness, consciousness disorders, neurological acute respiratory disorders, etc.); and emergency adult and child psychiatric patients (psychotic, anxiety, patients who may harm themselves and the environment, etc.); and to evaluate and to intervene and follow-up some patients.
            Learning Outcomes

            The students who succeeded in this course;

            • 1) BASICS in PRIMARY CARE: Explain the basic principles and approaches in the epidemiology, clinics, diagnosis and management of diseases that are frequently encountered in primary care.
            • 2) ACCESSING INFO for PT’s CONDITION: Access to reliable sources of information about clinical situations / problems, use evidence-based medical tools to evaluate the information accessed, and correlate the obtained information with the patient's condition.
            • 3) TAKING HISTORY & EXAM: Perform appropriate and focused history taking and physical examination from patients in accordance with appropriate communication principles.
            • 4) DIFFENTIAL DIAGNOSIS: Establish ranked differential diagnosis for patients presented with the symptoms assigned for this clerkship.
            • 5) DIAGNOSTIC METHODS: Evaluate the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, potential early and late side effects of the diagnostic methods, and their suitability for differential diagnosis with an evidence-based manner.
            • 6) DIFFERENTIATE EMERGENCY: Differentiate emergent and non-urgent situations.
            • 7) SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE of MINOR INTERVENTIONS: Demonstrate knowledge and skills to apply and interpret determined minor medical interventions and applications.
            • 8) DETERMINE TREATMENT: Determine pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options for the patients in clinical and emergency situations with an evidence-based medical approach.
            • 9) RISK ASSESSMENT: Do risk assessment and take precautions for the patient and health professionals.
            • 10) BIOETHICAL and ETHICS: Make management plans for the patients according to bioethical principles and legal responsibilities of physicians.
            • 11) CONSULTATION INDICATIONS: Identify the need for consultation and indications for referrals, when necessary, by distinguishing the diseases that require special expertise.
            • 12) SOCIAL DETERMINANTS and EXEMPLARY BEHAVIORS: Explain health events at individual, social and ecosystem levels via social determinants of health perspective.
            • 13) DEFINE the POPULATION for SCREENING & HEALTH PROTECTION: Define the target population, method and implementation strategies of control, screening and immunization programs for health protection and disease prevention.
            • 14) RISK FACTORS: Define the risk factors and social determinants of common diseases in the context of the patient and create evidence-based prevention / solution recommendations for them.
            • 15) TEAMWORK: Contribute to the work of the team as an effective member s/he takes part in.
            • 16) COMMUNICATION w PROFESSIONALS: Establish an open, constructive and respectful communication with the people s/he works with
            • 17) COMMUNICATION w PT&RELATIVES: Establish an open, constructive and respectful communication with patients, and patients' relatives by using appropriate language
            • 18) PATIENT RECORDS: Create accurate and reasonable patient records that has secured, verbally present the patient.
            • 19) REFLECTION METHODS: Use reflective approaches to identify and improve his/her professional performance
            • 20) STRESS MANAGEMENT: Apply methods for adaptive coping and burnout prevention by means of evaluating stress level of themselves.
            Course Description In this course, the physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of neurological, geriatric, adult and pediatric psychiatric diseases that all physicians encounter frequently in the daily working routine in adults and children will be discussed and taught.
