| Course Objectives | The aim of this course is learning musculoskeletal system diseases and situations/findings seen in emergency medicine, the legal responsibilities of the physician in forensic cases, seeing the patients in real life, in the hospital environment, considering every patient in details, reasoning and acquiring knowledge and skills related to this. |

| Course Description | In this course, knowledge and skills related to orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, emergency medicine and forensic case management will be discussed. In this course, students will see patients in real life, in a hospital environment, use their clinical reasoning skills to create diagnosis and treatment algorithms, and make clinical and legal applications. To explain further, in orthopaedics, students will learn first how to properly examine an orthopaedics patient, how to diagnose fractures and dislocations in X-rays, they will make differential diagnosis between orthopaedic emergencies,they will have knowledge about arthroscopic procedures, they will learn how to make differential diagnosis between spondilarthropaties and osteoarthritis. Prediagnosis descriptions about major orthopaedic diseases including peditric hip and foot disorders, spine related issues, hand surgery, orthopaedic tumors will be tought to the students. They will learn how to manage open fractures and dislocations. Almost all of the situations which requires to call the specialist will be described. The physical medicine and rehabilitation courses will include the approach and management of the patient with disability, as well as approaches and treatment methods in patients with painful conditions, osteoporosis, arthrits and neurological disorders. In the emergency medicine, they will learn how to manage chest pain, how to approach to stomachache. They will observe and learn how to approach unconscious patient, multi-trauma patient and neurologically impaired patient.applications. |
