Course Objectives The aim of the course is to introduce the students some selected technical / operational skills that they will use in clinical practice, and to enable them to demonstrate procedure steps on models or manikins and define risk management strategies related with these procedures.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Demonstrate the technique of capillary blood sampling and preparing a peripheral blood smear
  • Demonstrate the technique of intramuscular injection on a manikin
  • Demonstrate the technique of drug administration (nebul and nasal oxygen administration)
  • Demonstrate the technique of venous blood drawing and intravenous cannulation
  • Demonstrate the technique of subcutaneous injection and basic suturing technique
  • Demonstrate the technique of ECG recording and ECG interpretation.
  • Demonstrate the techniques for nasogastric tube insertion, gastric lavage, rectal examination and application of fleet enema in laboratory models
  • Demonstrate simple bandage and basic extremity immobilization, spinal column immobilization and collar application on a manikin.
  • Demonstrate the technique for urethral catheterization on a manikin.
Course Description Clinical Basis of Medicine II includes selected medical technical skills such capillary and venous blood sampling, intramuscular and subcutaneous injection, drug administration, suturing, ECG recording, nasogastric tube insertion, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, simple bandage, spinal column and extremity immobilization.
